Psst…guess what? It’s Menopause Awareness this month again. Each year in September we celebrate this special month. As founder of the Red Hot Mamas, I hope that you are doing everything in your power to stay healthy by gaining knowledge and taking steps to make informed choices about your health and your future.
It’s important to understand your body and to know the signs that tell you what’s normal and what’s not. Don’t ever think you are going through menopause alone. If you are reading this article, you are probably one of the baby boomers that were born between 1946-1964. This group of lovely women are the largest group of American women traveling through the menopause transition together.
Join our network of select hospitals for a very special new series of programs to learn about many of the common symptoms of menopause and treatment options. Get Your Groove Back events are FREE and happening now in a city near you! Check out how Baltimore grooved at their Frank – but lighthearted – about menopause program this past month.
Next month, I will be attending The North American Menopause Society’s (NAMS) annual meeting in Dallas. I’ve been a member of NAMS since 1992 and have proudly attended almost every one of their meetings. It’s important for our organization to keep up with the latest information about menopause. Their program includes world’s leaders in menopause who will come together under this year’s meeting theme of “From Bench to Bedside: Menopause Care in the Age of Personalized Medicine” to address today’s most timely and controversial topics, including:
- Vulvovaginal Health
- Bioidentical Hormones
- Hot Flashes
- Cancer Survivorship
- The Aging Brain
- Musculoskeletal Updates: The Dynamic Duo
- Menopause and Sleep
- Nutrition
- Digital Medicine and Informatics
- Information from the KEEPS, ELITE, and MsFLASH Trials
I look forward to sharing all this great information with you upon my return. I wish you a Happy and Healthy Menopause Awareness Month.
Good Health to You All,
Karen Giblin
