“Travel makes one modest, you see what a tiny place you occupy in the world”
-Gustave Flaubert
Dear Red Hot Mamas,
There maybe a few pot holes left in the road, but the winter certainly has ended. Many women enjoy traveling during the summer months. They tell me that it makes those sometimes annoying aspects of menopause disappear making the symptoms become irrelevant, for at least a short period of time. And, by traveling, I don’t mean booking a trip to your local supermarket. Yes, I’m talking about just getting “outta town”, and doing something you like to do, even if you have to, do it solo. Yes, some women don’t have a companion to travel with, but that’s okay too. There are many options for you that even may be appealing if you are alone.
I remember, years ago, we only took vacations with our husband or family. But today, that isn’t the case as there are many options available to us. In fact, when I go away, with my husband, it sometimes isn’t all that fun as he has a different agenda than I have. His interests are different, and so are his expectations about planned vacations.
So, sometimes, it’s such a joy, to just say to one, or two, of my Red Hot Mamas lady friends, let’s take a trip together. There’s a lot of comradery flowing and laughter. And, some of the trips we do together, I must confess, focus not just on museums, but on the finer things in life, like “shopping”.
It’s amazing how many travel groups that are around that cater specifically to women who enjoy vacationing. All you have to do is to use Google and you will find an abundance of trips designed especially for women.
So, book it baby! Try to get away. There are some fabulous deals online. And, there are tons of unique packages out there, even for single women.
So, in closing, be “broad minded”, excuse the pun and have fun this summer. Why not try new things, and consider spending time with other like-minded women. It may make your vacation more fun. Whether you are hiking, soaking in a hot pool, or taking an excursion to a winery, just consider all your options. Enjoy your precious time away and pack light!
Good Health To You All,
Karen
