“The purpose of life, after all, is to live it, to taste experience to the utmost, to reach out eagerly and without fear for newer and richer experience.”
-Eleanor Roosevelt
Dear Red Hot Mamas,
There are many lifetimes in a lifetime, So, in effect, each day we are writing our own life story. This means that we are all writers and directors of our lives. The big question is, are we living the story which we want to tell?
There are certain ways in which you can live the story which you want to tell. It is important to be proud of your aspirations, achievements, as well as where you have come from. It is key to never give up hope. Never let any situation define your future.
My father always told me that one always has to have moxie. By that he meant self-confidence. He always preached that it’s possible to have a better life if you have the right attitude and if you keep a positive mindset. He said that the choices one makes in their lives will impact the future as life unfolds.
Yes, there are life stages that present us with joys, as well as miseries. But if we keep a positive attitude that will help us get through the struggles. It helps us to become more resilient. So don’t be a glass half-empty sort of person. Try to be the half-full sort of person.
There are some proven health benefits to having a positive attitude which include:
- better quality of life
- higher energy levels
- better psychological and physical health
- faster recovery from injury or illness
- fewer colds
- lower rates of depression
- better stress management and coping skills
- longer life span
Make an attempt to slow down and take time to enjoy life. Rushing through life takes a tremendous toll over time. So, try to free up some time to reduce stress and relax. Make some time to do what makes you happy, what puts a smile on your face.
And, be your own cheerleader and practice self-love. Accept yourself as it will bring you an abundance of hope and energy.
In closing, you can be the poet and the poem. And it is now up to you to tell a good story about the way in which you have lived your life.
Good Health to You,
Karen Giblin
