You may have heard by now that one of the treatments that you can use to alleviate the symptoms of menopause is hormone replacement therapy. This particular treatment helps women deal better with what happens when estrogen and progesterone levels begin to drop. Women who want to avoid the discomfort of such symptoms as hot flashes, vaginal dryness, sleeplessness, and swinging moods may want to try this to keep their lives on even keel.
While this treatment may seem like a godsend for those who are already experiencing the physical and emotional rollercoaster that comes with menopause, it should be said that this treatment is not for everyone. Those who have heart ailments, are suffering from breast cancer, and are saddled with kidney disease cannot safely use this therapy to get rid of menopausal symptoms. Those who are also prone to blood clots, or have a family history of this problem, are also advised not to undertake this treatment.
Those who are considered ideal for HRT are those women who are already experiencing the symptoms of menopause and are looking for some relief from these. Women who also have a chance of developing osteoporosis due to heredity are also considered good candidates for this therapy. In order for you to truly determine whether or not you are an ideal candidate for HRT, you should visit your doctor and have tests done.
If you cannot use hormone replacement therapy to help you with the symptoms of menopause, there are still quite a few natural methods that you can use. The most commonly recommended one is a lifestyle change. The food you eat, the habits you have, and how you generally live your life is evaluated and changes are recommended in order to ease menopausal symptoms.
