Taking a Bite Out of Menopause….
Menopause means the end of menstruation due to less hormone production. The reduction in hormones causes changes in the body including the mouth, and changes to our gums. Some women, during their menopausal and postmenopausal years, have unresolved dental concerns or problems. For instance, they are more likely to experience dry mouth, painful, swollen or bleeding gum. And, even a higher percentage of tooth loss.
However, you can safeguard your smile, and Red Hot Mamas will help you do so.
We’d like to introduce you to our newest member of our Professional Advisory Board, Dr. Frank Barbieri, who has a wealth of knowledge to share. He has a personal interest in each of his patients (which I am one of), in creating healthy and beautiful smiles. Oftentimes, he changes a smile from being self-conscious, to self-confident!
Dr. Barbieri will provide to us information about preventive, restorative, and cosmetic dentistry and he will respond to your inquiries on Ask The Experts
Please remember that oral health is an important element to our general health. And, as women we have different oral health needs than men due to changes in our hormone levels. Maintaining good oral health may have a positive effect on cardiovascular disease, diabetes and other health concerns. So, I hope you will agree, Dr. Barbieri is a tremendous asset to Red Hot Mamas!! Please look over his exquisite background.Dr. Barbieri

Stay Hydrated….
Don’t forget during this hot month of July to stay hydrated. I try to keep a few bottles of water stashed in my car. Yes, it’s tempting to pass a drive through and not desire a cold soda, and if you simply cannot resist, ask for a cup of ice instead. There are many other water-filled foods that will increase your intake of water during the summer including, cantaloupe, watermelon, grapes, just to name a few that are packed with antioxidants. So, savor the summer season with these fresh picks. Women should drink 8 cups of water per day and always be sure to prevent dehydration when you exercise this summer.
Find a Vibrance Program Near You…
If you find you are putting moisturizer in places that you never thought you would have to before, you may want to find out more about the Vibrance Programs that Red Hot Mamas are hosting around the USA in the upcoming months. The topic of these programs will be vaginal dryness. It’s one of the insidious physical changes that accompanies menopause, and if left to its own devices, will only get worse. There’s no reason you should suffer vaginal dryness, prevention is key. Communication with your clinician is important and there are safe and effective treatments that you should know about. Check here to locate one in your area RHM Vibrance Events
In closing, I wish you all a happy 4th of July. Hope it’s filled with barbeques, lots of watermelon, fireworks, laughter and lots of great memories.
Good Health to You All,
Karen Giblin
