As 2006 comes to a close, Red Hot Mamas would like to thank all of its members and supporters that have helped to make this year a booming success!

Currently, the Red Hot Mamas Program is licensed in over 80 hospitals and physician group practices in approximately 29 states. Each month, thousands of women across the country attend Red Hot Mamas meetings to become educated and empowered about their healthcare. Through the meetings, our members are also making fast friends and receiving support from one another. The Program Directors, who facilitate the meetings at each site, are doing a tremendous job getting the word out in their communities and working diligently to ensure every meeting is a success.

As a result of the popularity of our local programs, we have received an amazing amount of press and attention this year! Red Hot Mamas Founder and CEO, Karen Giblin, has been very busy traveling from one interview to another in order to meet the demand of people wanting to learn more about our organization and get tips on living a healthy life at menopause and beyond.

Some of the media coverage we’ve received this year includes:

  • Good Morning America, August 15, 2006
“Putting the Freeze on Hot Flashes”
  • Pink Magazine, June 2006
    “No Sweat”
  • WTSP – Tampa Bay, FL, May 11, 2006
“Are you a Red Hot Mama?”
  • In addition to all of our program activities and media attention, Red Hot Mamas also conducted an insightful survey on vision concerns at menopause. The survey, titled Save Your Vision, found the majority of menopausal and postmenopausal women experience dry eye symptoms. Women are unaware of the relationship between menopause and dry eye symptom, nor do they discuss it with their Ob/Gyns whom they visit annually. The survey results were presented at the North American Menopause Society’s 2006 Annual Meeting in Nashville, Tennessee.

Currently, we are conducting a new survey on the affects of menopause on sleep. Judging by the response we’ve received so far, we can see that many of you have something to say about this topic. If you haven’t already completed the survey, log onto our homepage at www.redhotmamas.org and scroll down for the survey link. The Sleep in Menopause City survey results will be announced in early 2007.

Thanks again to all of you have helped to make this year fantastic! Stayed tuned for all of the exciting new initiatives we’ll be working on in 2007. We’re looking forward to another great year of education and fun.
