Dear Red Hot Mamas Experts,
My bladder occasionally fails to empty. I have been getting frequent bladder infections. How important are hormones to a healthy bladder?
Thank you,
M
Dear M,
Many women do not know the importance of hormones to healthy bladders. As women’s estrogen levels decline at menopause, many women find they experience one urinary infection after another, as well as vaginal dryness. Hormone therapy does help the situation helping to make both the vagina and urethra more resistant to infections. This is one of the chief reasons to consider taking hormones.
Discuss with your doctor the benefits and risks of hormone therapy, taking into consideration your particular health history.
Good Health to You!
