Dear Red Hot Mamas,
Menopause has done a number on my skin. I’ve really begun to notice wrinkles around my eyes, dark circles, and lots of puffiness. Any suggestions as to what I should do would be appreciated.
Thank you.
Corinne
Dear Corrine,
Thank you for writing to Red Hot Mamas. As we mature, the collagen (which provides elasticity) begins to break down. And, under the eye area doesn’t have sweat glands needed to keep this area moist. So, it’s important to use an eye cream. You may want to visit your dermatologist for a recommendation of an eye cream which contains retinol, an antioxidant which has the ability to smooth lines and wrinkles. There are also eye creams which contain brightening agents which may be helpful for the issue you mentioned of dark under eye circles. There are also products available with peptides and ceramides which helps thicken and strengthen skin. Some contributors to dark circles include fatigue, allergies, poor nutrition, as well as age. As far as the puffiness, watch your intake of salty foods and alcohol. Hope these suggestions are helpful to you.
