OOPS!…Babies at menopause are always a possibility, although it’s extremely unlikely that you will conceive at 51 years old. The occasional egg can be produced by the ovaries and put us at a potential risk of unwanted pregnancy.
We must still consider ourselves fertile and use contraception to avoid pregnancy for a full year after the last menstrual period. Personal preference and medical consideration should be taken into account when choosing a form of contraception.
There are many choices of contraception available for women today. The form you choose really depends upon your medical history and your personal preference for use. Keep in mind that you should not dismiss the possibility of pregnancy during the menopausal years. Using a form of birth control will give you much-needed piece of mind.
