Spring up, Fall Back. We set our clocks ahead this month and that has always made me tremendously happy. Longer, brighter days are a reminder that Spring is on its way.
The groundhog did not see his shadow, but you never would believe it now as the snow falls where I live in New Jersey. So, I will try to be optimistic as I set my clock ahead, that warmer, sunnier days lie ahead.
I’m a typical “fashionista” and before Spring arrives, I start rummaging through my closet taking a look at my wardrobe. I can honestly say that many of the things that hang there probably were bought on impulse. Being a bargain shopper, I scour the racks for sales. So, I know I’ve made many mistakes in my purchases and bought clothes that now just sit in my closet.
When I was forty, I could wear those trendy, cute things. Now, that I am of a certain age, I’ve got to think twice about my choices. A little R & D (research and development) is now needed. And, this fashionista needs a wardrobe makeover!!! I’ve got to toss out the clothes that are too tight and all those low rise jeans.
Oh, how I miss those days when I was a teenager, and I would go into a dressing room with several of my friends. We were all honest and told one another how we looked in the items we tried on. Those days are long gone. Now, I seem to be dependent on the sales clerk in the store. And, not all sales clerks are entirely honest in telling me how I have looked in clothes. If they were, I wouldn’t have clothes hanging in my closet that I have not worn. And, I often wonder why the sales clerk did not tell me about the flab on my upper arms or that the dress I bought was really too tight. I guess she really needed a sale.
So, in essence, this fashionista still has to get her groove on, but I will rethink my buying habits. With a bit of diligence, I will try not to make senseless purchases on clothes that have been barely, or even never worn. I’ll be more sensible, add some splashes of bright colors, over my basic blacks.
Need some tips to brighten your wardrobe and some honest help from friends at menopause? Check out one of our local RHM programs. This month, our great partner, Carilion New River Valley Medical Center (Christiansburg, VA), will be entering their 8th year of RHM programming! In addition, Presence Saint Joseph Medical Center (Joliet, IL) is starting up their 2nd year of successful RHM events. We’re extremely proud of our local programs and very appreciative of the hard work our program directors dedicate to ensure success each month.
Good Health To You All,
