We’re happy to say, this September is a BIG month for Red Hot Mamas! We’re excited to celebrate both Menopause Awareness Month AND the special Centennial edition of The Menopause Minute e-newsletter! Both are unique opportunities to honor women’s health, which we try to do every day.
I know, I know… enough with the seriousness about Menopause Awareness Month. Give me a break! Ask any menopausal woman if she is aware or not. You betcha she will say yes! I can relate. My hormones shift faster than a race car driver. I’m sick of violently fighting with my husband over the thermostat. My body temperature rises and falls like the stock market. We hope The Menopause Minute has provided some guidance for you as you deal with your own shifts.
Dive into our Menopause Minute archives and you are guaranteed to read new information every time. That’s right, we have never repeated an article once in all 100 volumes. Our nationally regarded advisory board of menopause women’s health experts makes this possible. They offer their knowledge and expertise in new articles every month… and for free! You can’t beat that. Thank you docs, for making RHM a credible, well-respected and trusted menopause education and advocacy group. Dr Seibel, Dr Minkin, Dr Brooks McKenzie and Dr. Johnson, we thank you for your continual contributions to our advocacy efforts.
For this special 100th edition, RHM experts come together to bring you more of their pearls of wisdom and reflections on Menopause Awareness Month. In the spirit of Menopause Awareness Month, I remind you that YOU are your own best advocate when it comes to topics that affect your menopausal health. We may not be able to control our body temperature, but there is a lot to be happy about. For one, we no longer have to deal with Big Red!
Women’s health remains a priority for our programs, especially at Cone Health – Women’s Hospital in Greensboro, NC. In 2002, we partnered with them to offer menopause education and support in the local community. A decade later, we’re thrilled to be entering into our 11th year – one of the longest standing chapters in Red Hot Mamas 21 year history. Year after year, Jennifer Leonard and her team have shown a determined commitment to educate women at midlife and empower them with the tools to establish healthy lifestyles moving forward into their next chapter. Through their hard work, the ladies at Cone Health have built a very popular program that continues to grow each year. We’re extremely grateful for the support of the Red Hot Mamas mission and look forward to continue our successful partnership well into this next decade.
Many of us are bewildered and confused complaining of symptoms that sometimes doctors don’t take seriously. It’s important to stand up for yourself, seek information and resources to strengthen your position when you visit your doctor. The journey through menopause can often be tough. Ease the transition by gaining the information you need to be informed and empowered to make change for yourself and others. Make you and your health a priority. Then again, if you don’t want to learn the facts, you could hire a pool boy to carry your towel to wipe off the sweats!
Good Health to You All,
