September is “Menopause Awareness Month.” But- if you are peri- or post-menopausal, every month is menopause awareness month..! Or at least it should be.
Aware not of the fact that you (we) are aging (“rust never sleeps!), but an annual reminder that constant awareness is the price of looking and feeling good as we age. Time marches on, and after “…a certain age…” it takes work to remain vibrant. But VIBRANT you can be! And every bit of “work” is worth it!
This “work” includes hormone supplementation with transdermal estrogen and possibly a “smidgen” of testosterone, certainly a bit of vaginal estrogen to keep that lovely little place stretchy and healthy. It includes eating less sugar and simple carbs and more small portion complex carbs & protein. It includes regularly dragging yourself to the gym to get a minimum of 3 hours of “sweaty” exercise/week. It definitely includes some sort of mindfulness awareness/stress reduction via meditation, yoga, etc. And it includes some positive work on your relationship, if you are in one. Yes! You can teach “old dogs” new tricks!
