Dear Red Hot Mamas Experts,

I work 45 hours per week and it’s wearing on me because I can’t get a good night’s sleep. Should I start taking sleeping pills? Or is there an effective herbal remedy?

Sleep is really an important issue and there are a lot of solutions to improve your rest. One good habit to get into is a sleep diary. Record details about your sleep habits like when you go to bed, what you are eating, medications your are taking and anything else that might be affecting your sleep. Show it to your doctor at your next visit. Also be sure to spend at least an hour winding down before bedtime. Do only relaxing activities like listening to relaxing music or reading – no TV or computer! Other good habits include eating earlier in th evening, limiting alcohol, and of course, no caffeine after 6pm. We hope this helps you! Let us know how it goes!
